INCIDENT: A man tried to make a citizen's arrest in Captain Street, Horwich Picture Google Maps
REPORTS on social media of an attempted abduction were false and turned out to be a man trying to carry out a citizen's arrest.
Police were called to the incident in Captain Street at around 9pm on Thursday and established that the man was trying to make a citizen's arrest in response to a takeaway window that had been smashed in Lee Lane, Horwich.
A widely-shared post on Facebook claimed that a man had been seen trying to abduct a youngster in the street.
The man has since been spoken to and enquiries into the criminal damage incident are ongoing.
