KEVIN the Carrot fever has hit Bolton.

But if you want to get your hands on a plush toy of supermarket Aldi’s Christmas mascot, then you are out of luck.

Aldi in Horwich had 200 of the cute teddies which sold out in 10 minutes while the branch in Trinity Street sold its delivery of 90 in under two hours.

The £2.99 Kevin the Carrot and his companion Katie plush toys went on sale yesterday and have been snapped up by fans familiar with the characters from Aldi’s festive advertisements.

Cheryl Seddon, from J.O. Transport Ltd in Little Lever, was one customer who managed to get her hands on a pair.

She said: "I queued at the Breightmet store from 7.45am and luckily was third in a queue of over 20 parents!"

This year’s advert sees Kevin search for love with Katie and the pair also appear in a Kevin the Carrot Book, priced at £2.99. Bolton Aldi currently has the book in stock, as well as a tasty chocolate Kevin the Carrot for £1.99.

The Bolton News:

Ahead of the launch, Aldi’s Julie Ashfield said: “Last Christmas, our Kevin toys sold-out in record timing so, this year, we have listened to our customers and are delighted to bring back Kevin - and introduce Katie - with over six times as many available!

“To help us raise as much money as possible for our charity partner Teenage Cancer Trust, we hope that customers love Katie as much as Kevin this festive season.”

Kevin and Katie the Carrot toys have since started appearing on eBay - some priced at hundreds of pounds.
