A BLACKROD Town Councillor is urging for two parking spaces in the area to be formally marked out as disabled only bays.

South Ward Councillor Graham Farrington called for the two spaces in New Street car park to be specifically painted and designated as disabled only at the town council’s monthly meeting last night.

The spaces would join the town’s limited number of demarcated disabled bays.

Cllr Farrington said: “The car park on New Street has two boxes with white lines, and they are the only lined bays in that car park.

“We asked before for them to be made disabled, but there are no markings in them to say that they are disabled spaces, and people just park in park in them.

“We were told before that they were disabled parking spaces.

“I propose that we write to Bolton Council asking that they are specifically made in to disabled marked spaces."
