A POLICEMAN who went to investigate a broken window at a house in Leigh discovered a cannabis farm, a court heard.
The officer went to the house in Hesketh Street, owned by Yee Chang, aged 26, and found a ground floor window was broken at the back.
He decided to climb through the window to investigate further and discovered a cannabis farm, said Martin Reid, prosecuting at Liverpool Crown Court.
The next day - May 17 last year - police thoroughly searched the house and 76 cannabis plants were found growing in a front upstairs bedroom, with another 45 in a back bedroom, along with growing equipment.
Chang's husband, Khoa Nguyen, aged 35, arrived and was arrested, the court heard.
Police went to the couple's home in Wythenshawe, Manchester, and discovered a small pot containing a cannabis bush.
Lights, which were the same as those found at the house in Leigh, were found in a laundry bag.
Nguyen was arrested and claimed he had discovered the plants four days earlier and had returned to get rid of them.
Chang said she had bought the house in January and rented it out in April. She said she was unaware of the cannabis until her husband discovered it.
Both deny producing cannabis.
The trial continues today.
