An ambulance driver has been attacked and robbed in Withington.
The driver of a patient transport vehicle was driving along Parsonage Road in Withington at 2.50pm last Friday when he heard a bang on the vehicle.
Believing he had struck a wing mirror, he stopped the ambulance near the junction with Talbot Road and got out and walked towards the back of the vehicle.
As he went to get back in the driver's seat, the 39-year-old was struck to the back of the neck by his attacker and fell to the ground.
The offender then went through the injured man's pockets and stole cash before running off into a nearby park.
Detective Constable Peter Jee, based at West Didsbury Police Station, said: "Luckily, this driver was not seriously injured, but he was left shaken.
"This was a despicable attack carried out on a public servant who was innocently going about his duties.
"I would urge anyone who has any information to contact us on 0161 856 6098 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
