POLICE are hunting a balaclava-clad man who tried to abduct a schoolgirl as she walked home.
The 11-year-old girl was taking a short cut home from Our Lady's RC High School in Blackley, Manchester, when she was confronted by a man on a footpath leading from Victoria Road to Torcross Road.
He tapped her on the shoulder and said he would take her home, but she refused. The girl screamed causing the man to run off towards a block of flats in Acre Top Road.

Police said the incident at 3.30pm on April 25 left the girl distressed and frightened.
The suspect is described as 5ft 3ins tall and of medium build. He had a deep voice and a local accent. He was wearing a black balaclava, black jacket, black trousers and black trainers.
Detective Constable Gary Kelly of Greater Manchester Police said: "We feel it was important to tell people about this investigation both to ask people to be vigilant, and in the hope that some witnesses will come forward to help us identify this man.
"But people must not panic as incidents of this kind are rare."
