Man attacked twice in one night

A man was violently assaulted twice in one evening in Chorlton.

The 31-year-old man was drinking at the Revise Coffee Bar on Wilbraham Road late on Saturday night when he was asked to leave following an argument with a women in the bar.

As he walked along Corkland Road he was attacked by a man, possibly with a knuckleduster. He suffered a broken finger and fractured left cheekbone and received 14 stitches to his eye as a result of the assault.

The offender is described as white, in his mid 20s, about 5ft 8in tall with short brown wavy hair.

The man then returned to Revise Coffee Bar to seek help but was thrown out of the bar and kicked in the lower back as he lay on the ground by a different man A 28-year-old man was arrested and has received a caution in relation to the second assault.

Detective Constable Andrew Bromley of West Didsbury CID said: "It is completely unthinkable that this man should be subjected to two assaults in such a short space of time.

"To compound matters he was attacked when he went to seek assistance and was clearly in a distressed state.

"I am keen to speak to anyone that witnessed the first assault or anyone who knows the person responsible."

Anyone with any information is asked to call West Didsbury CID on 0161 856 6153 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
