Armed gang in terror raid

A gang of five men brandishing swords and baseball bats stole cash during a robbery in north Manchester.

The gang entered Khan Property Management Service on Cheetham Hill Road at about 1.10pm on Wednesday armed with the weapons. One of the men also had a pistol tucked into his waistband.

The men demanded money and then stole a substantial quantity of cash from desk drawers, stuffing it into bags.

They then fled onto Greenhill Road and then Andsell Street.

No one was injured during the robbery and the weapons were not used, but several members of staff were inside at the time and the incident has left them traumatised.

Four of the gang were said to be white while the remaining gang member is believed to be black. All the men were wearing balaclavas and dark clothing.

Police are now appealing to anyone who has information about the robbery to come forward.

Detective Constable Jim Slack, based at Grey Mare Lane CID, said: "Although the weapons were not used, the staff inside the shop had no idea what was going to happen and were understandably very frightened.

"All weapons are dangerous, but the mere fact swords, baseballs bats and a firearm were being carried shows these are men who are prepared to use force if necessary to get their hands on money and we are doing everything in our power to apprehend them.

"I would urge anyone who has information to come forward so we can continue our inquiries and punish these men."

Anyone with information is asked to call Grey Mare Lane CID on 0161 856 1930 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
