Appeal for witnesses to double death crash

THE Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is appealing for witnesses who may be able to help its investigation into a road accident in Radcliffe in which two men died.

Jack Francis Christian, aged 22, of Greenside Chase, Bury, and Lee James Perris, aged 23, of Eton Hill Road, Radcliffe, were killed when the silver Volkswagen Polo they were in overturned and collided with a tree.

The crash happened on Bury Road at around 3.30am on Sunday, December 2.

The IPCC is conducting an independent investigation into the incident as a driver of a Greater Manchester Police patrol car had spotted the VW Polo in Wellington Road, Bury.

The officer activated the patrol cars blue lights and sirens as the VW Polo travelled into Manchester Road and Radcliffe Road, Bury, before the collision in Bury Road, Radcliffe, opposite the Newbank Garden Centre.

IPCC Commissioner Ms Naseem Malik said: “Our investigation will focus on the involvement of the police vehicle in the incident.”

flashing blue ights and sirens at that time in the morning,quiet roads,bad conditions,maybe coming to the end of there shift.hope the officers involved can live with there actions.

Maybe the reason for the lights and sirens was that they'd noticed the recklessness of driving with frosted windows and were curious about the use of seatbelts?

Why are the cops presumed guilty in the circumstances of this incident?

If you read all the articles it clearly says that the vehicle was out of sight of the patrol car when it crashed into the tree and that the officer had activated his emergency equipment in order to follow and most likely try and stop the car. Making idiotic comments like "hope the officers can live with there actions" is sad reflection of a lot of peoples views in this country now, all trying in some way to "stick it the establishment!!!". Well i for one would first question why ther car involved had iced over window (one offence), why it was speeding (two offences) why they chose not to slow down and stop for the patrol car (possibly yet more offences). No one wants to see young people killed and im pretty sure that the officers involved did not want to see that nor be involved in an incident like that as who knows, perhaps they have children that age at home!!!! People have got to start accepting that there are concequences to behaviour and actions and sometimes the blame lands squarely at the feet of those that make certain choices not anyone else!
