Work under way at shut care home

IMPROVEMENT works are under way at a care home which was closed over health and safety fears.
Elderly and vulnerable residents at Ladymead Nursing Home in Westwood Road, Heaton, have been moved to other accommodation until the home finishes the improvements to meet health and safety standards.
The home cannot reopen until the Care Quality Commission and Bolton Council are satisfied that all problems have been addressed.
It is understood that there were bedrooms without smoke alarms, an insufficient number of fire extinguishers and an inadequate evacuation procedure. A care commission spokesman said: “We have been informed that improvements to the building are under way.
“In the meantime we continue to work closely with Bolton Council and NHS Bolton to ensure the provider takes the required action to fully address all areas of concern.
“We continue to monitor the provider in line with our regulatory responsibilities and we will not hesitate to take further enforcement action should this be required.”

Bedrooms without smoke alarms.
Surely there are enough pound shops in Bolton to cover that problem?.
