Man arrested over New Year robberies

POLICE have arrested a man in connection with a spate of robberies in Horwich.
He is being questioned by officers over incidents which took place in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Five people were targeted between 2.15am and 4.55am.
In the first incident in Pennine Road, a 19-year-old youth was placed in a headlock, threatened with a knife and robbed of his wallet.
At 3am, another 19- year-old youth in Victoria Road was told he would be stabbed if he did not hand over his belongings.
Between 3.15am and 4am, also in Victoria Road, two 17-year-old teenagers were threatened with a knife and robbed of their wallets and other belongings.
The final robbery happened between 4am and 4.10am in Chorley New Road, near St Joseph’s School. A 15-year-old boy was placed in a headlock and robbed of his bag.
Police believe two or three people may be responsible for the robberies.
