Man held after woman, 29, is stabbed in neck

A WOMAN is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in the neck.
The 29-year-old stab victim suffered cuts to her neck and knife wounds to her right arm.
Her condition is not thought to be life-threatening and she is being treated at Royal Albert Edward Infirmary in Wigan.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly after 6am on Sunday February 3, police were called to a house in Crown Lane, Horwich, following reports of a stabbing. Officers attended and found two women had been assaulted, one of whom was a 29-year-old woman who had suffered a knife wound to the neck which is not believed to be life-threatening.”
A North West Ambulance Service spokesman added: “We were called to an address in Crown Lane where a woman had stab wounds to the neck and injuries to her right arm.
“She was fully conscious and was taken to the Wigan Infirmary.”
The second injured woman was not taken to hospital by paramedics.
Neighbours have spoken of their shock.
Margaret Wells, from Crown Lane, said: ”I am shocked to hear there has been a stabbing.
“I have lived here for more than 20 years and I have never had any trouble.
“It just never happens. A lot of the people here are elderly.”
A 47-year-old man, who lives in Crown Lane and who asked not to be named, added: “I really couldn’t believe it when I heard a woman had been stabbed.
“It’s very unusual for anything like that to happen in Horwich.”
A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding with intent in relation to the stabbing. He was due to be interviewed yesterday afternoon.
A 21-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm. He will answer bail on February 24.
The stabbing is thought to have been a domestic incident and a later incident, in which the second woman was injured, is thought to have involved friends of the 29-year-old woman and 27-year-old man.
