Join the fight against cuts, say union leaders (From The Bolton News)

So Gallagher, why don't you also ask them to vote this moronic council out of office, and ensure that Labour will never again make a mess of anything, either locally or nationally.

I think Bolton folk are far too aware of the cause of this mess to join a union campaign opposing cuts.

Paying full time salarys for employees to carry out union affairs is one cut I would not object to!
As far as I can recall the unions fought tooth and nail to keep all services in house so now we are saddled with high cost low productivity services llike thebins!

Same old abusive anti union, anti Labour rubbish. If you'd take off your blue tinted secs, you'd realise that union reps fulfill a critical function in protecting ordinary workers' rights and conditions, as well as a host of other social and welfare roles. Being a member of an employees' association is a human right and is often a key indicator of a civilised society and a successful economy, ie Germany, Scandanavia. Remember that BMC workers are Boltonians too and are consumers. Take away their jobs and you just reduce the already pitiful economic activity in the town even further. These cuts are political and were long planned by the Tories while in Opposition. Notice too that Labour areas are the most penalised by cuts, while Tory shires get off with minimal cuts. Their aim is to reduce the scope of public service and local democracy, giving most functions over to commercial interests. I get tired of the same old ill informed rubbish, spouted by Tory parrots in these pages.

so the opposition waited in the wings to rectify all the mess the Labour Government was involved in? So are you saying that Labour knew they would not win the election, so made a b..ls up of everything, just so that people like you could blame the Conservatives? It couldn't have been better made up if it was written by a famous screen writer and not some Red-eyed socialist who still believes everything the unions and labour members tell him. Of course we defend the Conservative cuts, because people with an ounce of sense can see that this is the only way to get Britain back on the road to recovery, and by supporting the grabbing union reps and the socialist propaganda, you are one reason why it is taking so much pain to get the job done. Keep flying your little red flag, comrade, but take a good look around you; those flags are disappearing quicker than a labour member of parliament when allowances are being checked.
