Join the fight against cuts, say union leaders

UNION chiefs are calling on workers to enlist the support of politicians in the fight against spending cuts.
Bolton Unison has urged its members to lobby borough politicians about the potential impact of cuts to jobs and services. It is also calling on members to protest tomorrow before the meeting of full council at 6.30pm. Bernadette Gallagher, Bolton Unison branch secretary said: “Bolton Council is set to vote through a budget on Wednesday night. There is concern this may lead to compulsory redundancies this year together with a devastating affect to local services.
“It is important that councillors who are making these decisions understand the impact this will have on jobs and services in the town. Council workers are very concerned about how the proposed cuts will affect them in terms of workload and the services that they work in.”
