n A MOTHER has told a jury of the moment when her sobbing daughter revealed to her that she had suffered years of sex abuse.
At Bolton Crown Court the mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said her daughter, who is now an adult, rang her on September 9, 2011, wanting to see her.
“She was crying and she said ‘I need to tell you something. I need to see you face to face,’” said the mother.
The woman then alleged that 56-year-old Nicholas West had been “touching” her throughout her childhood between 1993 and 2003.
“Literally my stomach turned over. She was rocking and crying and wouldn’t let me near her,” said the mother.
She said that afterwards she and her daughter’s partner went to West’s home to confront him and there was a “scuffle” between the two men.
The mother said that, during her daughter’s childhood, she did not have any suspicions that the little girl was being abused, although there were several strange incidents including when the child was three and she shaved part of her own hair off with clippers because she wanted to be a boy.
West, of Elmwood Grove, Farnworth, denies 11 counts of indecent assault and seven counts of indecency with a child.
The case continues.
