McDonalds food was too fast for one diner - when his meal turned out to be FROZEN

A DISGRUNTLED diner claims he was left with a bad taste in his mouth when he discovered that food he ordered from McDonald’s was still frozen.

Zahid Nawaz, aged 37, of Dorking Close, Astley Bridge, ordered a meal for his family from the McDonald’s restaurant in Waters Meeting Road on Saturday night.

But when his 29-year-old wife, Shabana Zahid, opened the veggie deluxe meal, she said, the burger was frozen solid.

Mr Nawaz's two-year-old daughter Sara Zahid was also due to enjoy the meal The allegation is being investigated by Bolton Council’s environmental health department.

He said: “I took the meal home and we couldn’t believe it — the burger was rock solid but had been prepared with mayonnaise and salad.

“It was more annoying because I’d waited in the car park for 20 minutes before the order was even ready.”

Mr Nawaz took the burger straight back to the restaurant where he asked to speak to an area manager.

He said: “I was told there was no manager available and was told exactly the same when I called the next day.

“They offered me a replacement but it’s not about a free meal, it’s about the physical side of finding you’ve been sold a frozen burger. I want a letter of apology.”

A McDonald’s spokesman said: “We apologise if we did not live up to our usual high standards of food quality. When the restaurant team were alerted to this alleged incident, they apologised to the customer and immediately offered to refund and replace the product.”

Mr Nawaz has made a complaint to Bolton Council’s environmental health department.

A council spokesman said: “We can confirm a complaint has been received and it will be investigated.”

Fair play to him! All too often these big companies feel they can rectify a situation with a freebie and a refund. Sometimes, it is necessary for people to take things higher in order to ensure better standards for everyone.

Richard,
I have to assume English is not your first language. If it is you need to sue your old school.

If its a regular occurrence then i could understand the grievance. I think the customers had blown this out of proportion. Mistakes do happen, these workers are only human and a refund, apology and a goodwill gesture was offered. Some people have too much time on their hands!!!

You have to ask what is the complainants motivation..
Several years ago i had a similar experience, i simply wrote to McDs they sent me a letter of apology, a refund and some vouchers.

When i used to run a retail business complaints are inevitable, you cant do everything to everybody's satisfaction all of the time. When things do go wrong the best thing to do is 1st appologuise and it can sometimes seem simple, but ask the customer what they want / what can be done to put it right. The default position is to refund, but it isnt always what the customer wants. We once had a problem where a product damaged a customers carpet on the way home. We paid for the carpet to be cleaned. At the end of it, we still made money, the customer got the item they wanted and the problem sorted. Easy, keeps the world revolving.

A frozen burger is the least you need to worry about eating McDonalds food! Have you ever stopped to think what crap is inside their junk food? If you want your food laced with all sorts of chemicals, preservatives and additives then go to McDonalds.

Is this where we are at now? Somebody can buy a McDonalds meal and suddenly they must be bloody rich...and the only way they can get there is by being on state handouts.

Actually this fella is right. Big companies will NOT apologise for anything because they want it legaled first. Im sure this fella would have accepted an apology. Most people just wanted to be treated respectfully.

If McDonalds have failed in their duty of care, then they need to pay the consequences. That is the law. Luckily there was no harm done but imagine the scenario of the child biting down on a frozen burger believing it to be a soft food. I'm not surprised he was furious and i think he has acted more than reasonably.
