Shouts of ‘shame’ as prayer hall approved (From The Bolton News)

the 'prayer room' at Bolton Council was sold to the staff as a 'quiet room'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
! It is supposed to be open to all faiths for quiet conetmplation etc. Tried to use it once when my brother died. Nuff said

Devonshire Road is hard enough to drive down at the best of times but add a new housing estate to this and the amount of cars parking on the road will escalate substantially. There are a number of schools around the area and it's only a matter of time before a child gets seriously injured or worse. The planning committee must listen to the residents who know the area best.

a boost to the area for who not me or anybody i know, pity the poor people who nearby,and what will it do to house prices.not to mention the traffic problems
12 months later we will have yet another mosque.

They use a meeting room in it during school hours only and even they objected to the opening hours and change of use. Why would they do that without reason?!

One argument to have here is that its supposed to be a community centre and is supposed to help with integration within the community. Yet there only seems to be one 'type' of community using it.

If its a local community centre for local people why do they feel the need to drive to it and not even use the parking facilities but just pull up in the middle of the road with no consideration for LOCAL residence!

It is in a residential area and the residence should have final say as it has an impact on them and them alone.

Really? I take it with this statement you have made you know this for a fact?!

Obviously your not local and have not witnessed the traffic it now generates.

The residents have a genuine concern regarding the use of the facility from 4am until 11pm – the ‘education’ centre is easily within 20 meters of peoples homes. This is the real issue here, the right of local residents to have peaceful enjoyment of their property.
Shopping centres and colleges are not open from 4am to 11pm – airports may be but then I doubt someone lives within 20 meters.

From my knowledge and anyone correct me if im wrong, its to do with the dawn and dust period and in summer months that is the period ie 4am - 11pm.

Being concerned about the continuing march of Islam across the face of Britain does not make a person a bigot, no matter what the holier than thou chattering classes would like us to believe.

The fact that 100,000 African Muslims fought WITH the allies in WWII is completely irrelevant in this discussion. They were fighting to protect their homelands from fascist tyranny, as were we. The Africans didn't fight so that the British could turn their homelands into a version of Britain they fought to protect their heritage and national identities as the British soldiers also did for their homeland. By your reckoning should we then hold Romanians and Latvians in contempt as they fought for the Germans? Such ill thought out arguments will not silence the concerns of the people involved and only show the willingness of some to silence any discussion that they object to by leveling the accusation of "racism" in an attempt to silence the other side.

The fact of the matter is that people have legitimate concerns regarding Islam, it's practices and it's followers insistence on being treated differently from the rest of society, and lastly our government and local governing bodies ability to treat the Muslim communities with preference whilst dismissing the concerns of the wider community.

You may be willing to put your head in the sand regarding Islamic immigration into this country and all that it entails, but a growing section of the population are waking up to what it means for us, our children and our grandchildrens future, and the outlook isn't good.

Just a casual look through history will tell you that countries where Muslims started out as a minority were quickly consumed by Islam and the non Muslims were treated unfairly and even persecuted. I and a growing section of the population who happen to be enlightened about the practices of Islam do not wish for ourselves or our descendents to be reduced to the status of "Dhimmis" in our ancestral lands. And if you are unaware of what a Dhimmi or what the status Dhimmitude means then I suggest you do a little research on the subject.

“Callous” Mohammed Naeem is
facing a substantial prison sentence
after he was yesterday convicted of
the brutal murder of family man
Amjad Hussain.
Naeem will be sentenced today at
Bradford Crown Court after a jury of
nine women and three men found
him guilty of Mr Hussain’s murder.
Mr Hussain, 32, a married father of a
nine-year-old son, died in his own
living room. He was almost beheaded
with a meat cleaver wielded by
Naeem, who inflicted repeated blows
to his neck with the weapon, then set
fire to the house and tried to create
an explosion in a bid to destroy the
evidence.
The jury was told Naeem committed
the murder because Mr Hussain, a
pizza chef at the Four Seasons
takeaway in Burley -in-Wharfedale,
was threatening to tell the killer’s wife
and father-in-law about a £1,000 loan
Naeem had not repaid.
Naeem claimed he had been
abducted at gunpoint and tortured by
four men who forced him to lure Mr
Hussain to his death.
But the jury rejected his story and
returned the guilty verdict after
deliberating for just over a day at the
end of a three-week trial.
Naeem stood with his hands clasped
in front of him and showed no
emotion as the verdict was returned.
Mr Hussain’s emotional widow
dashed from the court, while two of
her brothers quietly celebrated and
shook the hand of a detective in the
public gallery.
Mr Justice Lindblom remanded
Naeem in custody until he is
sentenced today.
Speaking on behalf of the family after
the verdict, Mr Hussain's widow,

“As a family, my husband's murder

death still does not seem real. You
marry, have a family, build a career,

“Our son has been denied a normal
family upbringing and together with
his family, even the small comfort of
being able to provide him with a
traditional Muslim funeral. He still
does not understand fully what has
happened and why his dad has gone.
“I want to thank the police for their
support in catching Amjad's
murderer. We are pleased he has
been convicted and that we now have
some justice for my husband.”
Detective Superintendent Paul Taylor,
who led the investigation, said
detectives had used old fashioned
policing methods to secure the
conviction.

here in Bradford assisted by Urdu and
Punjabi speaking officers who were a

Not at all what I am saying is that due to the nature of the Asian community and the way it lends money without correct procedure or a governing body so to speak a person was more willing to commit murder than to hold his hands up and say he couldn't pay back a 1000 pound loan

lets hope that high powered sports cars are not doing 70 mph up and down the roads of bolton to get there .that all school gates are locked.dont want another rochdale on our hands

In the last planning application it was allowed as long as it WASNT used as prayer room, now its ok to be used as one.! Totally two faced, & feel very sorry for those who live in the area.Wonder if an English church applied for something similiar,opening at silly hrs would get the same answer, doubt it.

After the GOOD summer we have had,lol, am I to assume that these people will be walking to this prayer room when it is persisting with rain,as we have had ! Er doubt it, so the residents can look forward to cars, slammed doors,talking,etc. Perhaps some people could go in their cars & do the same in front of the house of those that passed this, see how they like it !

Those that are all for it on here dont have to live next to it including the council members who approve it . It should be up to the residence at the end of the day if they want it or not May be they should just turn the town hall into one big mosque anyway and have done with it it's no use for anything else and should be big enough to keep all the worshipers happy also add free town centre parking for all Muslims job done and everyone is happy

Good morning all, congratulations to all you uneducated and judgemental people who just for a laugh want to create comments against a Muslim or there contribution to Bolton.

Just come back from the late night prayers with 20 families coming together with children as well in predominantly white heritage community.

No cars and no chanting!!

If people can remember my comments on the theatre church purchase, I mentioned that mosques, prayer halls and places of worship will be set up to allow the Muslim community to meet there needs.

Let me once again remind everyone and the councillors voting against applications such as these, there will be many more, from astleybridge, , great lever, Seymour road, far worth etc...

Try and join a congregation for a day, ask a Muslim neighbour or observe his going to the mosque. You will find that the Muslim community safeguards the community and is the safest place to live in.

The prayers takes no more than 15minutes, there is no chanting, whilst going for prayers the community is vigilant and keeps an eye out for anybody who shouldn't be around.

Please don't waste money on planning consultants, just join in for a day and observe how things happen. You will save a lot of money.

My message to Julie Hilling and cclrs voting against these proposals due to islamaphobia causers and un educated residents is to learn more about the Muslim community and the day to day practices, you might learn something.

50 people stand in silence you numpty Mr Copestake when they go for prayer, only certain prayers the priest will pray in voice.

What kind of consultant are you that don't know the facts!! Why are you ripping these poor people off.

Finally, who will be the first to put there house up for sale? When a Muslim offers a price, you will be the first to take his money, show some loyalty and stick to the area and revive your churches , support your children and create a family bond and allow them to stay home under one roof, love thy neighbour be they Muslim, Christian or Hindu and understand each other.

The door is open for all to learn about their own religion, go seek the knowledge.

Try and apply for a church, you will be surprised you will get it. Why not try it down your road where the mosque is going to open. Mosque only using a small part of the building, very welcome to open a church again.

Just came back from the early morning prayers and saw a bunch of drunk lads and girls outside a house in halliwell laughing and being merry!!

No chanting or cars at the mosque, only a bunch of LOCALS drunk waking the neighbours up!!

Whats the planning laws for this? Ccllrs and MP what are you doing about this?

They have been very specific about the hours of use. Winter should be fun when the local residents complain to the council about it being used before first light and later than 1 hour after dusk.
Sorry I forgot, it's Bolton Council, they don't listen to complaints. They just do whatever they want, usually so that they can benefit from it themselves.

Please don't waste money on planning consultants, just join in for a day and observe how things happen. You will save a lot of money.

My message to Julie Hilling and cclrs voting against these proposals due to islamaphobia causers and un educated residents is to learn more about the Muslim community and the day to day practices, you might learn something.

50 people stand in silence you numpty Mr Copestake when they go for prayer, only certain prayers the priest will pray in voice.

What kind of consultant are you that don't know the facts!! Why are you ripping these poor people off.

Finally, who will be the first to put there house up for sale? When a Muslim offers a price, you will be the first to take his money, show some loyalty and stick to the area and revive your churches , support your children and create a family bond and allow them to stay home under one roof, love thy neighbour be they Muslim, Christian or Hindu and understand each other.

The door is open for all to learn about their own religion, go seek the knowledge.

simultaneous prayer can be quiet loud but its better than slamming doors, kids screaming, breaking bottles, and other sounds of domestic abuse, gladly do a house swap and they can have my neighbours =] (note the council say it is normal behavior of what i have listed)

In almost every country I have lived in prayer rooms have been very popular with both patrons and locals. For a town as large as Bolton I am surprised to see the lack of faith centers especially Synagogue's which along with Mosques and Churches I attend regularly.

Hopefully the introduction of a prayer hall will see many more of Bolton's population attending faith centers and discussing their views on religion.

I would be interested to see if a business that might need parking for up to fifty cars and could operate between 4am to 11pm would be given planning permission. I suspect not and rightly so. "Businesses" like this have their place but not in a residential community.

I reckon that the majority of English people can't abide muslims, but they are too afraid to say anything as they fear being branded a racist or islamophobic! Remember folks that it isn't a crime to question or debate islam or the prophet of war, suffering & death, although muslims cry when you do! I am not racist, or against religious beliefs of alternate cultures.

However, acceptance and tolerance comes from a basic acceptance of the same within their own boundaries.

I will openly acknowledge muslims within my own boundaries, when they reciprocate in Qatar, UAE, SA et al...

I accept that the Imperial pillaging that took place as part of the British Empire and The Crusades have never been forgotten and this is merely revenge.

If more people supported the faiths of their own lands, perhaps this would not happen.

So, in summary the lessons are simple. Support your community, lobby the embassies of these countries to embrace alternate faiths, and stand up for your beliefs rather than complaining that they are being eroded.

English shops? - Go to all shops that give me a good bargain and good choice - I would be stupid not to! !

My Children go to a Catholic school and very proud of the learning that takes place! !

Attended Churches many times with my christian colleagues and friends across Bolton. Ask your christian leadership in Bolton and you will be surprised how many Muslims actually visit the churches in Bolton.

The Africans didn't fight so that the British could turn their homelands into a version of Britain they fought to protect their heritage and national identities as the British soldiers also did for their homeland. By your reckoning should we then hold Romanians and Latvians in contempt as they fought for the Germans? Such ill thought out arguments will not silence the concerns of the people involved and only show the willingness of some to silence any discussion that they object to by leveling the accusation of "racism" in an attempt to silence the other side.

The fact of the matter is that people have legitimate concerns regarding Islam, it's practices and it's followers insistence on being treated differently from the rest of society, and lastly our government and local governing bodies ability to treat the Muslim communities with preference whilst dismissing the concerns of the wider community.

You may be willing to put your head in the sand regarding Islamic immigration into this country and all that it entails, but a growing section of the population are waking up to what it means for us, our children and our grandchildrens future, and the outlook isn't good.

Just a casual look through history will tell you that countries where Muslims started out as a minority were quickly consumed by Islam and the non Muslims were treated unfairly and even persecuted. I and a growing section of the population who happen to be enlightened about the practices of Islam do not wish for ourselves or our descendents to be reduced to the status of "Dhimmis" in our ancestral lands. And if you are unaware of what a Dhimmi or what the status Dhimmitude means then I suggest you do a little research on the subject.

If the original application said there had to be no prayer room then there must have been a reason for that....so, why are the residents of the affected area not establishing what has changed that has allowed a change of decision and following that up with 'the powers that be'?

By following the councils complaints procedure and ultimately involving the Ombudsman, maybe your strong views will be reconsidered. If you feel so strongly about it, then follow the right route and endeavour to get the decision changed!

I dont see the point in harping on about religion at all. The simple fact seems to be that the council has altered it's view on a decision it made previously, and so the council should be answerable to that at the highest level, i.e. the Ombudsman.
