THE Prince’s Trust is looking for young people to take part in its next team programme at Bolton Fire Station.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, which is delivering the programme, and the Trust — set up by Prince Charles in 1976 – is inviting those aged between 16 and 25 to apply for the 12-week course, designed to give young people the chance to gain nationally recognised qualifications as well as hands-on work experience.

Students accepted onto the training programme can get involved in fire service training exercises and activities such as a road traffic collision demonstration and firefighter experience.

They will also take part in a week-long residential at Tanrallt Mountain Centre in Wales to learn team building and confidence boosting skills. Qualifications available to gain are food safety in catering, first aid at work, functional skills in maths and English, and Prince’s Trust qualifications in teamwork, employability and community skills.

Participants will be asked to attend Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.30pm for the duration of the course, which starts on May 19 as well as the residential trip which will take place from May 26 until May 30.

There is no cost involved for young people taking part, and bus passes will be issued to cover travel expenses.

Anyone interested should contact team manager Lauren Garner on 07581 336187 or team leader Andy Cropper on 07766 133582.
