PLANNING is well under way for the Horwich Festival of Racing, which takes place in June.
The festival has been running for the last 10 years and has become one of the most popular sporting events in the North West.
Formerly known as Horwich Carnival Races, its new title reflects that it embraces both sporting excellence and community participation across a range of events and activities.
More than 7,500 people — from Olympic and World Championship medallists to those taking part for the first time — have taken to the streets of Horwich in the decade since its rebrand.
It goes ahead on Sunday, June 15, and The Bourbon Street Roof Raisers jazz band have been booked to play at the Crown Roundabout. The festival is being supported by grants from Bolton Council and Horwich Town Council and there is private sector sponsorship from The Emersons Group, Bluemantle and the Joseph Holt brewery.
