BOLTON families are being urged to make sure people stay safe near water.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) has warned families there is an increased risk of children accidentally drowning during the bank holiday period.
Particular risks include the under-fives around garden ponds and paddling pools, and teenagers and young adults in rivers and other waters.
RoSPA has advised families to empty water from paddling pools when they are not in use and to fence off, or limit unsupervised access to garden ponds.
