YOUNG musicians from a Bolton school are enjoying the last few days of a concert tour in America.
Members of Smithills School Senior Brass Band raised £60,000 to fund the 10 day trip to North Carolina.
After an opening concert in Shelby, the group of more than 50 travelled 200 miles to Raleigh for a tour, followed by a concert at the Raleigh Moravian Church and one in Kernersville the next night.
Chris Wormald, assistant head teacher and senior band director, sent a message home which read: “Another all-new programme and the players were fantastic. A great, great Smithills night again, stunning standard.”
Following Monday night’s concert in Winston-Salem, the school band sold more than 200 CDs to its appreciative audience.
The group will return to Bolton tomorrow.
