TRAINEE quantity surveyor Teresa Bolton is proving she has what it takes to succeed.

The 30-year-old former pupil of George Tomlinson High School at Kearsley is studying on a five year quantity surveying and management degree course at the University of Central Lancashire, while working for social housing contractor Forrest.

Ms Bolton was out of work when she heard Forrest, based at Dodd Lane in Westhoughton, was looking for an administrator apprentice.

She was successful in the competitive selection process involving more than 50 applicants, eventually completed an NVQ Level Three in business administration in her first year with Forrest.

Her role involved providing administration support for all elements of a contract with Bolton at Home, including operations, customer care and commercial teams.

Working alongside Forrest quantity surveyor teams meant Ms Bolton swiftly developed an ambition to become one herself.

By sheer chance, Forrest was looking to recruit a “QS” and Ms Bolton competed against strong internal and external candidates to land the role.

“Teresa is a great asset to the team,” said Forrest director of framework, Joanne Bradshaw.

“Nothing fazes her and she is always ready for a new challenge. It has been brilliant to have worked alongside her at the start of her journey within a new industry and I can’t wait to see the progress she is going to make in her new role.”
