DESIRING to be skeleton thin and the price paid by girls in pursuing it was the winning speech in rotary club's competition.
Westhoughton High School's senior team won the Rotary Youth Speaks 2014 Competition.
They argued that many young girls, in a drive to emulate size zero models, was damaging their lives and developing eating disorders and depression.
Speaker Rebecca Leech told the audience of Rotarians, guests and fellow students that she too had been guilty of eating too little and exercising too much when younger.
The Jack Cowburn Cup was presented to the school, with a book token for each team member, on Thursday, November 20.
