DOMESTIC violence campaigner Eve Thomas was given a standing ovation at a conference marking Domestic Abuse Awareness Week in Dorset.

She was invited to give the key note speech at the The No Excuse for Abuse conference about her #SAFE project and Eve's Law campaign.

The event, which took place on November 27, attracted more than 200 attendees from across the county from a variety of different organisations and charities.

The conference was jointly funded and co–hosted by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) and Women's Action Network Dorset (WAND).

Ms Thomas, from Astley Bridge, said: "The conference was a great success with so many professionals committed to fighting the war on domestic violence and abuse.

"I would like to congratulate the Dorset OPCC, who pulled off a fantastic conference packed with education, information – and above all else, hope."

Martyn Underhill, Dorset's Police and Crime Commissioner said: "It was humbling to see a standing ovation for Eve Thomas who was brave enough to talk about her experiences that led her to establish the #SAFE project."
