THE Royal Bolton Hospital is on track to meet its target for tackling superbugs.
New figures show one patient contracted clostridium difficile, a bacterial infection that can cause diarrhoea and painful cramps, in the last three months.
It means Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is on track to meet its target to reduce the number of cases.
So far there have been 21 cases this year at the Trust, under the external target of 48 and an internal target of 28.
Last year the Royal Bolton faced fines from the Commissioning Group for missing the targets and put in place a £290,000 ‘battle plan’ to address the issue.
