A FIRM based in Bradshaw has come to the rescue of Farnworth and Kearsley Food Bank which suffered a weighing scale failure during one of the busiest times of the year.

Taylor at Scalesexpress donated a new set of scales to solve the problem, much to the delight of food bank manager Alex Malone.

"I can't thank Scalesexpress enough for their kind donation," she said. "Their help has made a huge difference just when we really needed it.

"The use of the scales helped us get all the food weighed and accounted for at our warehouse during one of our busiest periods.

"It meant we could get the food out of our warehouse and give it to those who really needed it."

Taylor at Scalesexpress is based at The Old Bank in Bradshaw Brow.

In the financial year 2013/14, Farnworth and Kearsley Food Bank fed 2,763 local people who had been identified as being in crisis and in need of food.

They were able to ensure that everyone who came in with a referral was met by one of their friendly volunteers, given some food and a hot drink, and then supported and signposted towards further help with their situation, as well as the food package they came for.
