AN E-PETITION launched by a Bolton Councillor against plans to build 300 homes in Westhoughton has received more than 1100 signatures.

Cllr Christopher Peacock, who sits on both Bolton Council and Westhoughton Town Council launched the petition against plans by developer Persimmon Homes who want to build the houses on land at Lee Hall in Westhoughton.

The petition has now received 1176 signatures, after Cllr Peacock posted an ambitious total of 1500.

Updating the signatories, Cllr Peacock said: "We are still waiting on an actual planning application being submitted for Lee Hall.

"Each week I've been getting an update saying it is coming shortly, but still nothing. So I guess you could say no news is good news on this front."

He added: "Westhoughton neither needs or wants this development in our town."
