BOLTON could benefit from a £30 billion devolution deal and new local powers if a Labour government assumes power in May.

Leader Ed Miliband has announced a deal that will guarantee new local powers over everything from public transport to new homes.

Its five-year local government pledge includes handing local areas control over funding for training and employment schemes and the “first proper housing plan for a generation” combined with new powers to ensure developers use their land – or lose it.

Mr Miliband said city regions like Greater Manchester will also be given "London-style" powers over buses so that they can set fares and routes.
