A KNIFEMAN robbed a fast food restaurant as customers were being served in Leigh.

At 9.30pm on Friday he walked into the KFC on Parsonage Retail Park alongside Atherleigh Way and approached the counter.

He jumped over the counter and asked for the manager before he demanded the tills were emptied while threatening staff with a knife.

Money was handed over before he left.

No one was injured.

The man was white, in his late teens or early 20s, of medium build and around 5ft 8in tall. He wore a scarf over his face, grey tracksuit trousers with a white stripe down the side, a black hooded top and black trainers.

Detective Constable Susan O'Connell said: “This man did not care about the panic or fear he caused by his actions and we are determined to catch him.

“It was a busy time and I would ask anyone who saw something, no matter how small or irrelevant you think it is, to contact us.”
