TYLDESLEY couple Jack and May Bradbury have just celebrated an amazing 70 years of married life.

Last Wednesday marked their platinum anniversary after their marriage on November 28, 1941 at Tyldesley Parish Church.

Both aged 91, Mr and Mrs Bradbury were 17 when they met on the 'monkey run' in Tyldesley. At that time she was May Foster from Grange Road, Mosley Common and worked as a weaver at Burgess's mill. Mr Bradbury was working on the railways based in Tyldesley where he lived in Henry Street.

A talented footballer he was a semi-professional with Winsford and Prescott Cables and in later year he and his wife were ardent supporters of Bolton Wanderers.

At one stage both worked at Burton's tailors where Mr Bradbury was a cutter and worked there until retirement. Mrs Bradbury was later employed as a packer at Ward and Goldstone, Hindsford.

The couple live in a retirement apartment at Ingleside, Tyldesley to where they moved in 1988 from their home in Dorning Street, Tyldesley in 1988. At Ingleside Mrs Bradbury enjoys needlework and watching tennis on television.

They have daughters Pat, aged 66, and Sylvia (56), three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
