Police have released details of antiques that were stolen from a man's house in Hindley Green, including a century-old pocket watch.

The enthusiast's collection was stolen during a break-in at his house near Alder Lane, sometime between 7am and 8.30pm on Monday, December 3.

The 57-year-old man has now agreed to release details of items that were stolen in a bid to help officers retrace them, and find the perpetrators.

The list includes an 18ct gold watch chain, which is believed to be 100-years-old, gold coins dating back more than 200 years, various items of jewellery and other accessories.

Police Sergeant John Scott said: "These items are irreplaceable to the victim.

"I would urge anyone who may have been offered any of the items listed to call the police as soon as possible.

"These are rare antiques which this man has spent his life collecting, and I would urge people to do the right thing and help our investigation.

"I would also ask that anyone who may have witnessed the burglary itself should call us."
