Firms put staff health first

First published in North West

NINE organisations have been recognised for putting the health of their staff first.

The Active@Work programme, run by Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust, works with businesses, visiting workplaces and offering free health checks and training.

Nine businesses initially signed up to work towards the Good Health Chartermark and had to prove how they promote healthy eating, physical activity, positive mental health, stopping smoking and other health issues to their staff.

Heinz, Murphy Group, Wigan and Leigh College, Wigan Council, Ash Hire, Garton Limited, Health First CIC, Dr Russell and Kumar Practice and Pure People Limited have been presented with certificates, and 40 firms have now signed up for the programme.
