Accrington Pals garden project gets £800 boost

A PROJECT to create an Accrington Pals garden to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme has been given an £850 boost.
Clayton-le-Moors with Altham Prospects Panel had approached Rishton and Clayton county councillor Miles Parkinson with a grant application for the scheme.
Supporters have already spent around £26,000 sprucing up the town centre, but now they want to refurbish gardens to mark the sacrifice of the Pals and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The money will be spent on removing waste from beds and upgrading garden benches.
