HEALTH campaigners are urging people to support meetings in Atherton and Tyldesley that will highlight changes that threaten hospital accident and emergency, ambulance and other NHS services.

Wigan & Leigh Save Our NHS/Keep Our NHS Public secretary Ian Heyes said: "Bolton, Wigan and other Greater Manchester A&E Units face the axe in the forthcoming review of how local NHS services are provided.

"Bolton Royal is also facing an imminent £38 million in cuts, which will involve 500 jobs losses and 1,500 other workers being re-hired on new contracts.

"Ambulance services additionally face cuts and/or privatisation.

"Fron April large parts of the NHS also face wholesale privatisation under the recently passed Health & Social Care Act. The Government has no mandate for any of this.

"Only People Power can stop it!"

Meetings about the changes are being held on Thursday, January 24 at Tyldesley Rugby Club, and Thursday, January 31, at St. Richard's Parish Centre, Atherton (both 7.30pm start).
