PUPILS from Lowton High School enjoyed a language enrichment event with a difference when a group from Manchester Metropolitan University’s languages department visited.
They were introduced to cultures from Europe and the Far East with Arabic dancing and Chinese origami plus language taster sessions in Italian and Arabic.
The pupils were also given the opportunity to tap into their creative writing skills by entering a multilingual poetry competition called Mother Tongue Other Tongue, which will be launched officially by MMU on January 30th.
The competition aims to celebrate cultural diversity and the many languages currently spoken in schools across the region. More details at www.mtot.org.uk
