STAFF at the Co-operative food store in Stour Road, Tyldesley, have launched a record breaking year of fundraising for the Carers Trust.

The charity will benefit from The Co-operative’s efforts to provide money to provide welcome breaks, information, advice and support for 14 to 25-year-olds who face the challenges of caring.

And at 10am this morning Co-op staff are tuning into a ‘Rock Around the Clock’ theme in a bid to support those who care for a family member or friend who is ill, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems.

Helen Horsley, manager of the Tyldesley store, said: “The challenges of unpaid caring is an often hidden issue even though it can affect most families at some time.

“We’re delighted that Carers Trust is our charity of the year and, that we have the chance to make a difference to the lives of young people in our communities who undertake practical and emotional caring responsibilities for a family member or friend who cannot cope without their support.”
