ATHERTON MP Julie Hilling has helped launch the first newspaper for people with disabilities.

The Bolton West MP backed the launch of the first newspaper designed specifically for people with learning disabilities – Easy News – at the House of Commons last week.

The creation of the national disability charity United Response, using simple words and images, aims to help the one million adults with learning disabilities in the UK. Ms Hilling said “It will make it much easier for people with learning disabilities to understand the news and the impact that it is has on all our lives.”

United Response chief executive Su Sayer CBE said: “This easy read newspaper will give people the chance to find out what is happening and to get involved, by voting or making their voices heard.”
