Vote for woodland wonders in and around Leigh
7:50am Sunday 3rd February 2013 in North West
IF you like talking to or walking through trees you can help spotlight the best woodlands in the Leigh area.
The Royal Forestry Society Excellence in Forestry Awards have five categories: multipurpose woodlands, silviculture, small woodland, community woodlands and, for the first time, in conjunction with Forestry Commission England, urban forestry.
So if Windy Bank Wood at Glazebury or Colliers Wood between Tyldesley and Leigh are your favourites now is the chance to vote for them.
Owners, managers and woodland lovers have until March 4 to enter. Full details can be found by following the link on the RFS web site www.rfs.org.uk An additional schools award is being offered for the most inspirational projects involving nurseries, schools or other educational organisations which increase young people's understanding and appreciation of woodlands and forests.
Further details and entry forms are available at www.rfs.org.uk or call 01824 704230.
