A THUG who sank his teeth into his girlfriend’s nose has been jailed for 18 months.

Drunken and drugged-up Andrew Jackson, 26, grabbed Sarah Louise Taylor by the throat and bit her on each cheek in the terrifying early hours assault in her Haslingden home.

The mum-of-two cried out in pain and was worried her young children – asleep upstairs – would walk in and see what was going on, Burnley Crown Court heard.

The hearing was told Jackson then grabbed her upstairs, flung her on the bed, asked for sex and then said, in a ‘very sinister way’: “Let’s see what you are like when you are full of scars.”

He bit her nose twice, splattering the room and bed with blood, saying: “You won’t be beautiful anymore.”

Jackson, who had had a cocktail of vodka and amphetamine before the vicious outburst, finished the onslaught by kicking Ms Taylor after flinging her to the floor, the court was told.

She ended up physically injured and worried about being left scarred and living in fear of Jackson, her boyfriend of four-and-half months at the time.

Jackson, of Queen’s Terrace, Bacup, who has 20 offences on his record, including five years behind bars for slashing a man’s face and neck with a knife, had admitted assault causing actual bodily harm on January 2, before Pennine magistrates. He was given an indefinite restraining order, banning him from contacting the victim and from going within 100 metres of her home.

Emma Kehoe, prosecuting, said the defendant went to Ms Taylor’s home at 8pm on January 1, they watched a film with the children and she put the children to bed at about 11pm.

Jackson began to question her about why she had called him in the early part of New Year’s Day. She told him she had rung to wish him Happy New Year, after a text message from him. He asked if she had been having sexual intercourse with somebody else and she maintained she had been at a family party.

Mrs Kehoe said Jackson was abusive and the victim told him to leave. He went out of the front door, and then texted Ms Taylor.

The victim shut her curtains when she could see the defendant still outside. The back door key was missing and Jackson let himself back in, and told her: “You didn’t think I was going to leave you, did you? I love you.”

They went into the living room and Jackson grabbed her, put his hands around her throat and threatened to rip her throat out. The defendant then grabbed her again and bit her face, once on each cheek.

Mrs Kehoe said Jackson stayed at the house and the victim was terrified. Her mum later arrived and he left. Ms Taylor was left with a sore and cut nose and bruises to her cheek, neck and arm. Police arrived as Jackson had phoned them as he left the property. He was arrested.

In her victim statement, Ms Taylor said: “Every time I look in the mirror I am reminded of what happened. I don’t feel safe where I live anymore and myself and my family are all upset and hurt. I feel like I want to move away from here now as this has changed everything about the way I feel and think. I am frightened of what he will do when he is finally released.”

Recorder Michael Blakey said Ms Taylor suffered significant injuries in the ‘awful act’, in which Jackson deliberately targeted a ‘vulnerable victim'.
