Traffic police are trying to trace the driver of a car which failed to stop at the scene of a collision where a cyclist was seriously injured.
At about 6.25pm on Thursday, January 31 January 2013, the 56-year-old man was riding his bike on Plank Lane in Leigh when he was involved in a collision with a car. The rider fell off but the motorist drove on.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment to a punctured lung and fractured rib. His injuries are not considered to be life threatening.
Sergeant Martyn Wright said: "This could have resulted in more serious injuries.
"This bike had front and rear lights and the cyclist was wearing light colours so I am sure there were witnesses who would have seen him.
"I am asking that anyone who saw this collision please calls us.
"If the driver himself sees or hear this, I urge him to come forward."
Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 7201
