JOBSEEKERS are invited to careers and skills fair. highlighting employment and course opportunities.

The event hosted by Wigan Council is being held between 11am and 3pm at Leigh Sports Village.

There will be opportunities for people to boost their CV and interview skills, receive support with job searches and meet with local employers looking for fresh, talented recruits to expand their teams.

The British Army, Hays Recruitment and Adactus Housing are among the companies and businesses attending.

Council staff will be on hand to on discuss apprenticeship opportunities, and a host of businesses will be looking for new, potential employees and discussing future job opportunities with their companies.

Employment support will be available from Job Centre Plus, and people looking to boost their knowledge can sign up to free Maths, English and IT courses with Adult Community Learning.

A selection of businesses will also be holding interactive demonstrations and giving attendees the chance to try their hand at hairdressing, bricklaying and other skilled professions.

Carol Halford, Head of Service for Information, Advice, Learning and Skills at Wigan Council, said: “While the employment situation in Wigan Borough is improving, there are still significant numbers of young people and adults who need support finding work – so events like this are hugely beneficial.

“We are pleased to work with other businesses and training providers to present local jobseekers with opportunities to explore the job market and get the support they need to get onto the employment ladder.”

Leigh Careers and Skills Fair is a free drop-in event.
