CAMPAIGNERS who are battling to save open land from development at Atherton have praised supporters who raised £625 with an evening of music at the town's Jubilee Hall.
Save Atherton South spokesman David Bowen said: "Also a big thank you is due to all those who have donated so far to go towards our fighting fund which currently stands at just over £4,000.00. We still have a long way to go to reach our target."
Anyone who has not yet made a donation and wishes to do so can contact SAS treasurer Gerald Butler on 01942 870326.
Donations can also be made at the group's next open meeting on Monday, February 25 at 7:30pm at the Punch Bowl pub, Market Street, Atherton .
This will be the last meeting before the planning inspector's assessment in March. SAS has submitted their planning report to Wigan Council Planning Report which will be forwarded to the Planning Inspector Mr Kevin Ward.
