LEIGH babies couldn't be in safer hands.

The Wigan borough midwifery and health visiting services along with children centres and breastfeeding network have been rewarded for best practice in infant feeding support.

Councillor Susan Loudon, Wigan's children's champion, said: “The choices that families make around infant feeding practices have enormous impact on the future physical and emotional health of both the mother and baby.

"It is fantastic that the prestigious UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative has validated support that local families are receiving is of an outstanding standard and testament to the hard work and partnership working across all the organizations.”
