ORTHOPAEDIC patients will welcome the news that the first of two new modular operating theatres will be delivered this weekend at Wrightington Hospital.

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust says the first three modules are being delivered to site on Saturday and will be located next to Ward 1.

Later this month the second theatre will be delivered an positioned adjacent to D Ward.

Chris Knights, WWL Project Director, said: “This is excellent news for our orthopaedic patients as well as two additional modern, state-of-the-art theatres that will further improve patient experience, the additional capacity will allow us to treat 2,500 more patients per year and will significantly reduce inpatient waiting times.

"This also takes the total number of theatres at Wrightington to 10 and is the start of a major investment and improvement programme at the hospital during the next three years.”
