Atherton Photographic Society celebrates 75 years

Club members enjoy a photography trip in 1939.
ONE of the biggest photography clubs in the region is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
Since April, 1938 Atherton & District Amateur Photographic Society (ADAPS) has been helping people to enjoy and improve their photography.
ADAPS has become one of the largest and most popular photography clubs in the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union. The club has over 100 members, men and women, young and old, ranging from beginners to experienced enthusiasts. They enjoy a lively weekly programme including guest lectures, workshops, studio sessions and photography trips.
On Thursday, March 28, ADAPS President Len Hudson invites members and visitors to take a look back at images and events over the past 75 years. The show starts at 8pm in the Clubroom, Back Stanley Street, Atherton, M46 0SX. Admission is free.
Club spokesman Paul Jones said: "ADAPS has survived and grown over the last 75 years because we have great members who are passionate about helping each other with all aspects of photography. We listen to all our members' needs and hold events that they are interested in, while having a lot of fun at the same time."
Anyone interested in photography, or learning how to take better photos, is welcome at club nights which start at 8pm every Thursday.
