PUPILS from Leigh St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School were joined by Mayor of Wigan Clr Myra Whiteside when thery sent a message to the future by burying a time capsule in the grounds of Leigh's newest pub restaurant.

A copy of the Journal was among newspapers, letters, drawings and photographs that went into the pupils’ capsule at The Whistling Wren, which has been built by Marston’s Inns and Taverns.

A plaque will be installed in the Whistling Wren recording the date of ceremony at the Turner Street tavern.
