Leigh student with fear of heights will skydive to help alopecia sufferers

Being bold and ignoring his fear of heights is skydiver Joe Slack
A UNIVERSITY student with a fear of heights has just signed up to jump from an aeroplane at 12,000 feet.
Twenty years-old Joe Slack from Westleigh is doing a sponsored skydive on May 11 to raise fund for the support group that has done such a lot to help his younger sister, Kim, who suffers from alopecia, the hair loss condition.
His mum Sue told the Journal: "We rely heavily on Bebold Alopecia Awareness in supporting Kim with her alopecia. Joe has been very supportive of Kim. He takes an active part in helping out where possible with Bebold – he has been with us helping at the children's alopecia summer camps in the last two years, and will be going with us again this year."
Manchester Metropolitan University student Joe is studying at Manchester Met for a degree film-making and production and put his skills into practice by filming and photographing events at camp.
He also presented a magic show for the children there and teamed-up with 14 year-old Kim performing the rap to Kim's rendition of Jessie J's 'Pricetag'.
In spite of his fear of heights he jumped at the chance to join a Bebold group of eight others who are doing the sponsored tandem skydive at Langar Airfield in Nottingham to raise funds for this year's Bebold camp and other activities. And his mum and dad Sue and Steve and sister Kim will be cheering him all the way down.
