Leigh Image Centre students made up with TV work

BEAUTY students who are studying to become make-up artists at Wigan and Leigh College's Image Centre in Leigh have had their work featured in television adverts.

Eighteen years-old, Anja Coleman, and Rebecca Quinn, 22, who are on the Level 4 Beauty Therapy management course, were given the opportunity to work with top freelance high-end television make-up artist, Amanda Gaffey on projects for the Co-op and fashion retailer Curvissa.

Both students experienced the fast-paced world of TV advertising, and worked on the hair and make-up of actors, and fashion models for the commercials, which are now being screened.

Rebecca impressed Amanda so much that she commissioned the student to work on a photographic fashion shoot, and the professional make-up artist is trying to locate a traineeship in the television sector for when Rebecca finishes her college course.

Amanda said: “The high standard of work both Anja and Rebecca displayed was excellent and this is testament to the standard of teaching they’ve received at Wigan & Leigh College.

“I would have no hesitation in taking any of the students from Wigan & Leigh College into the work place with me in future.”

Louise Gray, Beauty and Holistic Therapy manager at Wigan & Leigh College, said: “Anja and Rebecca are extremely talented and creative students and we are very proud of their efforts.

“We offer courses that are designed to meet the needs of employers like Amanda.”
