THE Five Boroughs health trust which provides community healthcare in the Leigh area has reached the finals in the HSJ Awards 2013.
Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust will compete in the Staff Engagement category which recognises an organisation’s commitment to working with staff to deliver new ideas and better services.
The Trust has been nominated for the Transforming Services for One Bridgewater project which launched in January this year. Staff’s clinical expertise helps to improve services for patients while at the same time using their knowledge to see where costs for the organisation can be reduced.
It has already provided a saving of £1million for the Trust and this is set to increase to £2million over the next two years.
Bridgewater’s Chief Executive Dr Kate Fallon said: “Being a finalist in the HSJ Awards is an incredible honour for our frontline and support staff. They have contributed enthusiasm, commitment, and ideas which have made the Transforming Services for One Bridgewater project a real success.
“Our frontline staff understand how our services operate, what we can improve on so our patients have the best possible experience and how we can save money.”
Bridgewater representatives will be interviewed by judges in October and the awards presentation will be on November 19 in London.
