A CAMPAIGN to get every child reading has been backed by an Atherton MP..
Bolton West’s Julie Hilling has thrown her weight behind a drive by The Reading Agency to encourage all primary school children to join their local library and take part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge — the UK’s biggest reading promotion for primary school children.
Organisers said research shows the challenge increases children’s reading range and builds confidence.
Julie said: “I hope parents and carers in Bolton West will take their children to their local library this summer to sign up for the challenge.
“It is free and makes fun reading, which is a vital part ingredient in building literacy skills.”
The theme for this year’s challenge is “creepy house”, illustrated by award winning Chris Riddell, inviting children to explore a Creepy House and its host of characters.
