IMAGES depicting the best things about the Leigh area could win amateur photographers a £500 prize.
Wigan Council has launched a competition to capture the “best of the borough” as part of its “Believe” campaign.
Your photographs that show the wonders and beauty of the borough are invited as part of the crusade to encourage people to take pride in their community.
The competition is divided into four categories: community life, flowers and plants, wildlife and landscape. A judging panel will pick a winner for each category, with the winning photographer receiving £250.
Residents will then be asked to choose their favourites of the four category winners, with the overall winner getting a further £250.
Lord Peter Smith, Leader of Wigan Council, who will head the judging panel, said: “I am really looking forward to judging and seeing the borough through our residents’ eyes. The Believe campaign is more than just winning trophies, it’s about focussing on the positive things and how great Wigan Borough really is.”
The competition opened this week and closes on Friday, October 11. More information can be found at: www.wigan.gov.uk/photocomp2013
